Originally was the main shopping street in the 18th century! Kemptown is known for it's independent cafes, shops and restaurants, as well as it's thriving LGBT+ scene.
Kemptown is particularly good for bars and clubs, especially if you're interested in the LGBT+ scene of Brighton (see here), but it also has a great selection of small shops, a throwback to it's origins!
At the end nearest the Pavilion, charity shops, newsagents, phone shops and supermarkets dominate, but as you move further up, you start to find the music stores, bookshops, antique stores and the Brighton Flea Market. Once you get into St George's Road, there is another block of independent stores, with pet shops, wine cellars, florists and greengrocers.
