Brighton is an art filled city, from the graffiti to the galleries and the large number of theatre companies dotted around. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved with all things musical or dramatic while you're studying in Brighton and we've provided a quick summary below. More broadly, Brighton and Sussex Unis both offer musical societies, with Brighton chosing to cover all music in one society, whilst Sussex has a handful of different genres, each with their own society. Both also run musical theatre groups that all are welcome to join! The atmosphere for all of these societies in inclusive and about sharing a passion and interest, so all skill and experience levels are welcome, with performances and jams throughout the year.

Student Drama

There are dozens of theatre companies in Brighton, who are often not-for-profit and looking for volunteers. If you're keen in getting involved, have a look at our Theatres page and get in touch!

Both Unis also have a drama society, with the Sussex Uni Drama Society putting on 6 plays a term. Both are open to any level of ability and any role, from acting to stage managing to technical expertise.
